If you love to travel, then you’re already familiar with Condé Nast Traveler. The luxury and lifestyle travel magazine has been around since the late ’80s and has served as the go-to guide to find the best travel tips, destination spots, and restaurant recommendations across America.

Part of Condé Nast Traveler’s appeal is their list of best restaurants they put out every year. They not only compile a list for some of the nation’s top cities, but they also curate a list for the best restaurants in the world every year as well. As you can imagine, the restaurants that consistently stay ahead of the game can make Condé Nast Traveler’s local or global list over and over again every year.

But this isn’t an easy feat. The restaurant industry is a competitive space; new restaurants open their doors all the time with talented staff that are ready to work hard to make a name for themselves. So the spots that make Condé Nast Traveler’s list two, three, four years in a row have really cemented themselves as a top restaurant in their area. One of the restaurants to recently do this is Umi Sushi, located in Atlanta, GA.

Southern dishers are known for being deep-fried comfort food, but there are restaurants in the area that are bringing more to the culinary hot spot than just traditional Southern fare. Umi Sushi combines both classic and modern Japanese flavors in a sophisticated, contemporary setting located in Atlanta’s busy Buckhead neighborhood. Their staff flies in their seafood from the finest markets all over the world, so you know it’s fresh and delectable.

While their menu is filled with must-try dishes, there are a few local favorites that keep Umi Sushi’s customers coming back for more. For a starter, it’s their spicy tuna tartare, made from tuna, lychee, pine nuts, asian pear, masago, and avocado. For a main course, customers love their wide selection of sashimi, nigiri, sushi rolls, and hot dishes, like their baked lobster tempura and their wagyu toban yaki. You can check out their full menu online.

It’s no surprise that Umi Sushi is a three-time honoree on Condé Nast Traveler’s ‘Best Restaurant in Atlanta’ list. They won in 2018, 2019, and then again in 2020. Condé Nast Traveler doesn’t only shout out Umi’s incredible food, but they also give a special shout out to their bar manager, Gabe Bowen, for his cocktails, specifically the Tomu Kat O.

Just like their menu features, Umi Sushi has a wide variety of drinks to choose from. There are classic cocktails, like their whiskey old fashioned and gimlet, as well as other sake, wine, and spirit options that will perfectly complement any meal or mood. You can see their full libations menu online.
